\\WILL MY PIECES TARNISH?

All metal is subject to tarnish through oxidation. Contact with the air and acids/oils on your skin react with the metal and it creates a patina. This is a natural process!

//ARE MY PIECES PROTECTED? // CAN I SHOWER WITH THEM ON?

-All Brass pieces are lacquered with MOHAWK--an awesome brass lacquer that creates a protective coat to shield from tarnish. It does not last forever, but it will last a long while! With that being said, I would still suggest taking your brass pieces off before showering to extend the life of the lacquer.

-Sterling Silver pieces do not require a lacquering. Investing in a silver polishing cloth or a polishing solution is always a good idea if you own a lot of silver! You can certainly wear your silver while showering without a problem.

-Goldfilled actually doesn't tarnish as easily as silver or brass! However, over time it will begin to lose it's luster. Simply give it a brush with mild soap and water. Perfectly fine to wear while showering!

\\WHAT IS GOLDFILLED?

Basically, it's layered gold! Unlike plated jewelry, the gold will not scratch away leaving a base metal to show through. Constructed of 2-3 layers, a gold alloy is bonded to the base metal core using heat and pressure. Legally, Goldfilled is required to contain 5% of gold by weight. The 5% used is then described by the karatage of the gold alloy. Most goldfilled is 12kt or 14kt goldfilled.
